Common Symptom
E1
Zone Overtemperature
High
The zone you are cooking on turns off without warning and the heat setting display flashes E1.
View
E2
Zone Temperature Sensor Fault
High
One or more zones on the Thermador Masterpiece or Liberty cooktop show E2 and will not heat when selected, while other zones work normally.
View
E3
Power Board Overheat
High
Every zone on the Thermador Masterpiece or Freedom cooktop goes offline at once rather than just one zone — a signal that the fault is in the central electronics.
View
E4
Control Communication Fault
High
The cooktop surface does not respond to touch input. Pressing any control key has no effect and the display either shows E4 or goes blank.
View
E5
Display Board Failure
Medium
The heat level indicators, zone selection icons, or timer display show random characters or become completely dark while the cooktop is still powered.
View
E6
Power Board Failed
High
No zone responds to touch commands and no residual heat indicator appears on any burner position — the power board is not generating any induction field.
View
E7
Power Board Sensor Failed
High
The cooktop starts and heats normally but shuts all zones down and shows E7 after a few minutes of operation, as the board sensor check trips during normal warm-up.
View
E8
Cooling Fan Malfunction
High
Thermador induction cooktops produce a noticeable fan hum during cooking. Silence from the underside during active use is a sign the fan is not running.
View
E9
Cooking Zone Not Connected
High
Touching a particular zone position on the glass surface triggers E9 immediately, while the remaining zones heat without any fault code — pointing to a wiring or connection issue on that specific zone.
View
EA
Cooking Zone Incompatible
Medium
The fault first appeared after a technician replaced a zone coil or module, with EA showing on the replaced zone every time it is selected.
View
H
Residual Heat Warning
Low
After finishing cooking and turning a zone off, the zone position continues to show H on the display for several minutes to over an hour.
