Thermador Built-In Oven Recall Expansion 2010 | CPSC

Thermador oven recall expansion 2010 — BSH Home Appliances Corporation expanded the August 2007 voluntary recall of Thermador wall ovens to include additional model years and serial number ranges. The expansion was announced in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2010.

Hazard

The same hazard described in the original 2007 recall: gaps in the oven cavity insulation can allow extreme heat to escape during the self-clean cycle, causing surrounding cabinetry to overheat and pose a fire risk. The expansion was prompted by additional incident reports involving units outside the original recall window.

Affected units

  • Brand: Thermador built-in wall ovens with self-clean function
  • Models: additional Masterpiece and Professional Series wall ovens not covered by the original 2007 recall
  • Why expanded: additional model serial ranges were identified after the initial recall as having the same insulation gap issue
  • Specific double-oven model numbers: C272B, C302B, SEC272, SEC302, SECD272, SECD302
  • Serial number range: FD8403 through FD8701

How to identify

Owners of Thermador built-in wall ovens manufactured anywhere from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s should verify their model and serial against the current BSH recall list, even if the unit was not flagged by the original 2007 announcement. Both single and double wall oven configurations are included.

What to do

  1. Discontinue use of the self-clean cycle on any affected Thermador wall oven
  2. Manually clean the oven cavity using non-abrasive oven cleaner safe for porcelain enamel and stainless steel
  3. Contact BSH Home Appliances at 888-965-5813 to confirm recall eligibility
  4. Schedule a free in-home insulation repair with an authorized Thermador technician

Urgency level

High during self-clean operation. Standard baking and broiling are not affected by this recall — only the high-temperature self-clean function presents the documented fire hazard.
