Thermador Dishwasher Power Cord Fire Recall 2015 | CPSC

Thermador dishwasher recall 2015 — BSH Home Appliances, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Health Canada jointly announced a voluntary recall in October 2015 covering approximately 149,000 dishwashers in the United States across the Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, and Kenmore brands.

Hazard

The power cord supplied with the recalled dishwashers can overheat at the connection point, posing a fire hazard. BSH received reports of overheating and minor smoke incidents that prompted the voluntary recall. No serious injuries had been reported at the time of the announcement.

Affected units

  • Brands: Thermador, Bosch, Gaggenau, Kenmore Elite
  • Manufacturing window: January 2008 through December 2013
  • Sold in U.S.: 2009 through 2014
  • Total U.S. units: approximately 149,000
  • Total worldwide: approximately 195,000 across the four brands

How to identify

Affected Thermador models include several Sapphire and Star-Sapphire built-in dishwasher series produced during the affected window. Model and serial numbers are printed on a label on the inner door panel or on the side of the tub housing. The official BSH recall lookup confirms whether a specific unit is included.

What to do

  1. Inspect the power cord at the wall connection for any discoloration, melting, or burning odor
  2. If any of the above are observed, stop using the dishwasher immediately and unplug it at the breaker
  3. Contact BSH Home Appliances at 888-965-5813 to verify whether the model is part of the recall
  4. BSH provides a free in-home repair from an authorized technician — replacement power cord and labor are at no cost

Urgency level

High. This recall was later expanded in 2017 to cover additional units. Owners of Thermador dishwashers manufactured between 2008 and 2015 should verify recall status before continuing to use the appliance.
